This was my introduction to Pierce Turner - I'd picked up a 12" single of Surface in Heaven and was knocked out. What incredible songwriting, amazingly catchy hooks and lyrics unusual enough to grab you without being pretentious. So I bought the album and wasn't disappointed. The Sky and The Ground is pure beauty and has to be one of Pierce's best ever. You can't help but sing along to Have You Looked At The Sun(Lately) and You Can Never Know and Mayhem is a song I regularly bring to mind when out walking. A brilliant song that must sum up most people's lives at one time or another. I found The Answer an anti-climax but Time Flies (When You Don't Know What You're Doing) makes up for that. After buying this, I went on to pick up every single thing Pierce ever did and simply can't get enough of the man. I love the fact that not many people know about him but wish he was more widely appreciated. Now isn't that a Pierce Turner fan's dilemma?!? :-)
